Billing Changes Effective August 2024
8/28/2024
As previously announced, on June 25th the Richey Town Council adopted a new utilities ordinance, which contains several new or revised fees that will take effect as of the August 2024 billing period, the bills for which will be mailed out early next week.
- NEW opt-in water customers who are not active users will be charged a monthly Minimum Infrastructure Rate of $33.33 for each new property. The charges for current active users will remain the same.
- Customers with Water Service Lines that are 1" or larger will be charged an Equivalent Dwelling Unit multiplier rate for both water and sewer as indicated in the following table:

- Customers with a Water Service Line that is NOT connected to a structure and that is used solely for the purpose of landscape or livestock irrigation, or as a standalone hydrant, and any customers outside of Town limits with their own septic systems but who are connected to Town water will be charged an additional monthly rate equivalent to one-third of the monthly sewer rate (or of the Equivalent Dwelling Unit multiplier rate). This additional charge is to help offset the impact of the associated reverse osmosis reject water on the Town’s lagoon cells.
- The Town’s fee for turning on a customer’s water at the curb stop will be $10.00 per month for every full or partial month that the curb stop has been turned off, with a minimum charge of $50.00.
The resolution adopting these fee changes, as well as the new utilities ordinance, are both linked below. If you have any questions about your monthly bill, particularly if you are affected by any of these changes, please call the Town Office at (406) 773-5634.
