Town Council Working Session To Review Draft Utilities Ordinance On May 21

The Richey Town Council will hold a working session on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the Town Office/Fire Hall. The purpose of the working session is to review and discuss the current draft of the proposed utilities ordinance for the Town of Richey. No other Town business will be conducted.

Roll-Off Container Now Available For Yard Waste

To support the Town's upcoming annual clean-up week, a 30-foot roll-off dumpster in which residents of Richey can dispose of their yard waste is now available behind the Town Office.
Montana’s 6th Local Government Review Election Cycle Has Begun

As we mentioned in our Spring 2024 Newsletter, the Local Government Review election cycle has begun. The broad purpose of this review is to determine whether the residents of Richey want to establish--and pay for--a local government study commission to examine the power, form, and plan of the Town’s government and to submit recommendations on the government. More detailed information, including the different forms of recognized government in the State of Montana, can be found at this link: Scope of Montana’s Local Government Review. Richey is a Commission-Executive (Council-Mayor) form of government, which is by far the most commonly adopted form of municipal government in Montana.
Signatures and Letters of Support Needed for Phase III Water Project!

The Town of Richey is now in the process of applying for grant funding for Phase III of the water main replacement project. We need your help in signing petitions and in writing letters of support for the continuation of the project. The Community Development Block Grant program (which provides up to $750,000 in funding) is especially competitive, and one of the key factors in awarding these grants is documented public support for a project. In fact, a nearby town missed out on receiving this grant because it did not provide sufficient evidence of general public support. So every signature and letter counts and helps to strengthen the Town's application for these funds!
Town Office Closed May 6 - May 10

The Richey Town Office will be closed May 6 through May 10 for the annual Clerk's Conference. It will reopen on Monday, May 13, at 8:30 a.m.
Phase III Water Project Public Hearing on May 14

The Town of Richey will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Town Office/Fire Hall located at 112 Antelope Ave. East in Richey. The Town has scheduled the hearing to obtain comments from the public regarding proposed Phase III improvements to Town’s water system. The full notice is linked below.
REMINDER: Glendive Landfill Vouchers Still Available - This Week Only!

The Town Office still has vouchers available for one FREE standard pickup truck load of waste at the Glendive landfill. These vouchers are valid this week only, from April 22-27.

Voucher for One FREE Pickup Load Dump at Glendive Landfill

As part of its Community Clean-up Week initiative, the Glendive Chamber of Commerce is offering a voucher for one FREE standard pickup truck load of waste at the Glendive landfill.
Bulk Water Plant Is Open For The Season

The bulk water plant is now open for the 2024 season. As a reminder, the current bulk water rate is $0.02 per gallon (approximate).
GRANT AWARD UPDATE: The Town of Richey Awarded Another $15,000 MCEP Planning Grant

The Town of Richey has been awarded a third Montana Coal Endowment Program (MCEP) planning grant for $15,000. This grant will be used to update the Water Preliminary Engineering Report for Phase III of the water infrastructure replacement project. Along with the two planning grants awarded earlier this year (see below), this brings the total to $75,000 for 2024!
