GRANT AWARD UPDATE: The Town of Richey Awarded Another $15,000 MCEP Planning Grant
4/9/2024
The Town of Richey has been awarded a third Montana Coal Endowment Program (MCEP) planning grant for $15,000. This grant will be used to update the Water Preliminary Engineering Report for Phase III of the water infrastructure replacement project. Along with the two planning grants awarded earlier this year (see below), this brings the total to $75,000 for 2024!
All three of these planning grants require, however, a combined total of up to $45,000 in local matching funds. The Town is working diligently to pursue other sources of funding to keep these out-of-pocket costs to a minimum.
The Town of Richey has been awarded $60,000 in Montana Coal Endowment Program (MCEP) planning grants!
A grant for $40,000 will be used to complete a wastewater/sewer Preliminary Engineering Report (PER). Similar to the PERs created for the ongoing water main replacement project, this report will help identify and lay the groundwork for future improvements to the Town's sewer and lagoon infrastructure.
A second grant for $20,000 will be used to update the Town's Capital Improvements Plan (CIP), which was last revised in 2015. A CIP not only assists the Town in planning and budgeting for needed capital purchases (for example, equipment replacement, road and street repair, updates to Town buildings, etc.), but--along with the recently adopted Growth Policy--it will also help the Town to score more highly when applying for competitive infrastructure grants.
