Driving In Town Limits

5/30/2024

NOTICE:  Under Montana Code Annotated, a person may not operate/drive any motorized vehicle or off-highway/recreational vehicle on a public highway, road, street, or alleyway unless that person has a valid Montana driver’s license and the vehicle is also licensed and registered. The Town of Richey also has long-standing ordinances that state it is unlawful to drive on the Town’s public-access streets and alleyways without a driver’s license and proper vehicle registration and plates. It is unlawful for minors without valid Montana driver's licenses to operate any motorized vehicle within Town limits. The streets, alleyways, and boulevards of the Town are not for recreational vehicle entertainment. Their purpose is for properly licensed drivers to transport themselves and goods from point A to point B in a responsible manner. They also must be kept open for emergency access of fire trucks and the ambulance.
