Stage 1 Fire Restrictions In Effect For Richey Starting July 27 at Noon
7/26/2024
Dawson County will be entering into Stage 1 Fire Restrictions effective Saturday, July 27, at 12:00 p.m. The Town of Richey will follow suit with the same restrictions.
Pursuant to Town of Richey Ordinance Chapter 7.32, “Burning During Dry Weather,” during extreme dry weather, no burning will be allowed until the Town Council deems it safe to resume burning, and no burning in Town limits is allowed at any time without a permit obtained from the Town office and signed by the Fire Chief. Under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, campfires and fires outside of metal fire grates/pits are prohibited, as is smoking in timber, brush, or grassy areas. Fireworks, exploding targets, and other explosives are also not allowed.
Good practices of fire prevention and the prevention of fire spreading are key. Along with the open burning restrictions, it is important to keep property mowed, weeds knocked down, and trash, debris, and flammable material to a minimum on property in Town limits.
