The water will be off tomorrow, Thursday, September 19, from 8:15 am to around 4:00 pm to switch the residents on 2nd Street East over to the new water mains.
This planned outage will affect all residents on 2nd Street East and all residents east of 2nd Street East, including those on Antelope Ave.
It is advised that affected residents fill water jugs or bathtubs and take any other necessary steps in advance to ensure you have the water you need tomorrow during the day.

Water Main Replacement: While Easton continues its work on 1st Street East, it plans to begin digging up curb stops on 1st Street West as soon as Thursday. This means there will be partial or full closures on this street until the work is complete. Since street access to your property could be intermittently blocked during construction, please be prepared to access your property from the alley if needed. Beginning next week, Easton will begin digging up curb stops on 2nd Street West, so alley access may be required there as well from time to time. Residents on the WEST side of 2nd Street West, who do not have an alley, may need to enter and exit their property via their backyards if street access is blocked by construction. This is admittedly an inconvenience for those residents, so we especially appreciate your understanding and expect that these interruptions will be very temporary.
Paving on Railroad Avenue: Wharton Asphalt has begun repairing Railroad Ave. between Main Street and 1st Street East and expects the job to last a couple of days. During that time, Railroad Ave. will be closed between Main Street and 2nd Street East.
Garbage Pick-up: You can set out your garbage totes in their normal locations while construction is underway, and G&G has been informed that this will be the case. If you are so inclined, you may move your totes to the nearest east-west street (Royal Ave., Elk Ave., Antelope Ave., or Railroad Ave.) to make collection a bit easier. With all the work going on, it is understandable that an occasional pick-up might be missed. If that happens, please call the Town Office at (406) 773-5634 right away so that we can collect your garbage as soon as possible.

On September 9, the Richey Town Council approved updates to Ordinance Chapter 7.32, "Open Burning Regulations and Policy," to clarify both allowed and prohibited burning activities within Town limits, to mirror Dawson County's adoption of fire restrictions, and to align with state requirements. The Town was notified earlier this afternoon that the contractor that will be repairing Railroad Ave. where the water main was just replaced (between Main Street and 1st Street East) could begin prepping and paving as early as Tuesday, September 17. If that happens, there will be road closures along Railroad Ave. similar to those in place during the water main replacement. Please keep this in mind if you plan to drive in that area, and be on the alert for new road closures and detours starting tomorrow. Thanks!

We are now a little more than a week into construction, and Easton Companies/Grade A Civil has installed new water mains along 2nd Street East and dug up around the curb stops that will be replaced on that street. Easton has now begun to dig up the curb stops to be replaced on 1st Street East and may begin replacing mains there as early as Saturday.
Although 2nd Street East has been reopened to traffic, the curb stops there will remain dug up until they are connected to the new water mains. In the meantime, they are blocked off by earthen piles and surrounded with orange fencing. Easton will still be doing some work off and on there, so please continue to be cautious if you need to use that street, and avoid driving there if possible. As work ramps up on 1st Street East, it will be partially or fully closed at different times.
For your safety and that of the workers, please respect all construction/road closure signs around Town. If possible, avoid driving around these areas, and use extra caution if you do need to travel near an active work zone. Parents, please especially let your children know to stay away from construction areas.
Again, unless something unexpected or unusual occurs, residents' water will NOT be affected or turned off during construction until the final switchover to the new mains, which should be a quick transition when it happens.
